AirAsia to Close Solo-Kuala Lumpur Flight Route

AirAsia to Close Solo-Kuala Lumpur Flight Route

MALAYSIAN based low-cost carrier Air Asia would stop its Solo-Kuala Lumpur flights starting from mid-January.

According to Head of Commercial Air Asia, Berhad Spencer Lee, said starting from Jan 16, 2018, we will stop the Solo-Kuala Lumpur route, which has been serving three flights a week. The decision of the closure is based on commercial grounds.

Lee did not give details on the commercial grounds, but said that the airlines has conveyed the closure to passengers via emails and short message services (SMS).

“We have decided to close the route after a deep consideration. However, we still have the commitment to increase our flights to Indonesia this year,” he added.

The airlines would provide some compensation options for passengers affected by the closure. Passengers could change their flights schedule, change the route to Semarang or Yogyakarta, have a credit account in Air Asia, or have full refund.

Meanwhile, the Airport Operation and Services Department Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I at Adi Soemarmo airport, Purwanto, revealed that he has received information on the airlines’ plan to stop the route. However, he was yet to get formal confirmation from the airlines on the grounds of the closure.

“We do not know what the problem is. According to our data, passenger load factor of the route is relatively high, at some 70 percent,” he pointed out.  [antaranews/photo special]
