IN an attempt to attract more foreign tourists, the Tourism Ministry is advertising the Wonderful Indonesia campaign on buses in two large cities in Russia, Moscow and Saint Petersburg.
According to the ministry’s head of marketing development, Nia Niscaya, said when asked why Russia had been chosen as the advertisement target, I have seen an increase in the number of foreign tourists from Russia.
According to data from Statistics Indonesia, the number of Russian tourists to the archipelago increased by 6.97 percent from 117,532 tourists in 2017 to 125,728 tourists in 2018.
“Through the data, we can see that our market potential is huge in the country. Therefore, we will boost it with our best efforts,” Nia said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Moscow and Saint Petersburg were chosen as branding locations for being central cities. Moreover, both Moscow and Saint Petersburg have dense populations.
In Moscow, the Wonderful Indonesia slogan will be advertised on a bus that passes through several routes, such as Bolotnaya Square, Arbatskaya Square, Sivtsev Vrazhek lane, Vozdvizhenka Street, Smolenskaya Square, Borodino Bridge, Taras Shevchenko, Ukraine Hotel, Novinsky Boulevard, Arbat Gates, Alexander Garden, Okhotny Ryad, GUM and Lubyanka Square.
Meanwhile, the Wonderful Indonesia bus in Saint Petersburg will pass several routes, such as St. Isaac’s Cathedral, Palace Square, Kazan Cathedral, Anichkov Palace, Vosstaniya Square, Eliseyev Brothers Emporium, Arts Square, Summer Garden, Eternal Flame, Palace Embankment and Bronze Horseman.
