RI PREPARES STIMULUS AIRPORT RATES TO IMPROVE TOURISM SECTOR

THE existence of travel warnings and flight bans related to the spread of the Corona COVID 19 Virus, has greatly impacted the tourism sector and also the aviation industry in Indonesia.

To anticipate this, the Indonesian Government (RI) has decided to provide a stimulus in the form of tourism transportation incentives that have been approved by the Ministry of Finance. This has been agreed according to the results of the Limited Meeting today (25/2) in Jakarta, which was chaired by President Joko Widodo.

According to the Director General of Civil Aviation, Novie Riyanto said that the stimulus provided by the government was aimed at improving the national tourism sector by increasing the interest of the community to travel in Indonesia, especially to priority destination areas.

“This stimulus is in the form of incentives given for flight fares to tourist areas, namely Batam, Denpasar, Yogyakarta, Labuan Bajo, Lombok, Malang, Manado, Toba (Silangit), Tanjung Pandan and Tanjung Pinang for three months,” Novie said.

He added, later passengers would enjoy a discount of between 40-50% of the real tariff applicable to 25% of the total seats available from each flight. For the time being it will be enforced during the low season from March to May 2020.

“The Ministry of Transportation will continue to work closely with other agency ministries to succeed the government program in order to make Indonesian tourism attractive to Indonesian citizens (domestic tourists) and foreign nationals (foreign tourists),” he explained.

He noted that, we will continue to ensure to continue to improve the best service for users of air transportation services while maintaining aviation safety and security. [traveltext.id/photo special]
