PRESIDENT JOKOWI ARRIVES IN SOLO, C. JAVA TO PAY TRIBUTE TO HIS MOTHER

INDONESIAN President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) landed in Solo, Central Java Province, at 5:52 p.m. local time on Wednesday to pay tribute to his mother, Sujiatmi Notomiharjo, who passed away earlier in the afternoon. He rushed to the mourning house soon after arriving in his hometown.

“President Joko Widodo has arrived in Solo, and further information on the passing of President’s mother will be provided later,” Presidential Secretariat Deputy Head of Protocol, Press and Media, Bey Triadi Machmudin, said in a press statement.

Born on February 15, 1943, Sujiatmi was married to Widjiatno Notomiharjo. They had four children. President Joko Widodo, the first child, was born in Surakarta, Central Java, on June 21, 1961.

Sujiatmi Notomiharjo breathed her last around 4:45 p.m. local time on Wednesday in her hometown Solo. President Joko Widodo’s Sudjiatmi Notomihardjo’s mother died at the age of 77 due to cancer suffered during the past four years.

According to President Jokowi said we know that my mother has been sick for four years, suffering from cancer. The family had endeavored to provide treatment for Sudjiatmi’s illness, including undergoing treatment at Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital, Jakarta.

“We have all endeavored, but Allah has willed. Large families ask for prayers so that her mistakes will be forgiven by Allah SWT and khusnul khatimah,” he said.

Jokowi said my mother planned to be buried in the Mundu Family Cemetery, Selokaton, Gondangrejo, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java at 13:00 WIB, Thursday (3/26). [antarnews]
