MARITIME COORDINATING MINISTRY APOLOGIZED FOR PRESS-CON IN SOETTA

THE Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment apologized for holding a press conference at Warehouse Angkasa Pura Cargo 530, Soekarno-Hatta (Soetta) Airport Tangerang, Banten, on Friday, which was criticized by a number of parties for ignoring safe physical distances in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Special Staff of the Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Institutional and Media Jodi Mahardi in an instant message in Jakarta, claimed to have informed that the release and photos of press conference activities will be distributed so that journalists do not need to be present.

“We have stated our apologies for not carrying out physical distancing this morning. We actually have also informed the Kemenkomarves group of reporters that releases and photos will be shared online and do not need to be present. Indeed, the reporters who were present turned out to be unexpected,” said a spokesman The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

According to Jodi, the incident will be an evaluation for Kemenko Marves and he promised that it would not be repeated.

Jodi added, it would help test COVID-19 for reporters who were present and then had symptoms of being infected with the virus.

“For reporters who were present and had symptoms of COVID-19 in 5-7 days we will help test. We will reach out to the reporters who registered earlier,” he said.

Previously, the Journalists Safety Committee (KKJ) criticized a press conference held by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenkomarves) at 530 Angkasa Pura Cargo Warehouse, Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, Friday (27/3).

KKJ spokesman, Sasmito Madrim in his press statement in Jakarta, stated that the press conference about the delivery of aid from China to the Indonesian government ignored the appeal about the importance of maintaining safe physical distance.
