HOMECOMING PROHIBITION APPLIES TO ALL REGIONS IN INDONESIA

THE Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD said that the prohibition of going home (Ramadan exodus) as a form of efforts to break the chain of distribution of COVID-19 applies throughout Indonesia.

“Therefore, all Indonesian citizens must obey these rules, because through the activities of the homecoming (Lebaran exodus) transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus or a new type of corona that causes COVID-19 is very potential to occur. which was held by the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19 at the Graha Office of the National Disaster Management Agency.

He added, further, the ban on going home did not only apply in areas that implement large-scale social restrictions but in all regions in Indonesia.

“The government can ban it everywhere because it (the homecoming ban) applies to all of Indonesia,” Mahfud said.

The official ban on going home starting April 24, 2020. So that with these rules, the security forces can take firm action by stopping people who want to go home in the middle of their journey before leaving the homecoming area like Jakarta. Likewise, those who want to enter Jakarta are not prohibited.

Mahfud said that day by day, law enforcement will be increasingly stringent so that people obey the rules that have been issued by the Indonesian government.

In this case, the homecoming ban will apply until after Eid. However, if the situation of development demands that the movement of people and goods must be limited in order to break the chain of transmission and spread of COVID-19, then that rule can be extended.

“If after the extension, how come it still needs to be extended, extended again until there is at a minimum point to say safe,” he added.

Mahfud hoped that all people would refrain from going home, obeying all rules and supporting the government’s efforts to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic. [antaranews/photo special]
