GARUDA DELAYED THE ARRIVAL OF AIRBUS & BOEING AIRCRAFT THIS YEAR

GARUDA Indonesia decided to postpone the arrival of four Airbus aircraft and 49 Boeing aircraft due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year Garuda should receive four Airbus aircraft. We are negotiating with Airbus to delay the acceptance.

According to Garuda Indonesia’s Managing Director Irfan Setiaputra during the Hearing Meeting (RDP) with the DPR’s Commission VI in Jakarta, Tuesday (14/7) said besides that, I also delayed the arrival of 49 Boeing 737 Max series and Garuda Indonesia had only received one unit and until currently still imprisoned following the fall of the Lion Air JT 610 PK-LQP aircraft crash at the end of 2018.

“We agreed that all the planes will be grounded. As a contract we should receive 49 units. Our personnel structure is indeed prepared for the arrival of the aircraft, prepared for the addition of routes and the number of passengers,” he said.

Irfan said that Garuda Indonesia had also renegotiated aircraft leasing to “leasing” companies so that they were given a relaxation of monthly payment of US$70 million.

“One of the biggest costs is aircraft rental. We continue to discuss this condition with lessors. there are some lessors who experience difficulties. It seems that today the lessor is not willing to have his plane returned to them because basically with the condition of the world of airlines throughout the world today, there are no airlines that need new aircraft,” he added.

He explained, Garuda Indonesia also decided to return the fleet of Bombardier CRJ-1000 and Airbus planes which were considered unsuitable. The second is a plane that is not suitable for Garuda we return. The contract is 10 years, 12 years.

“For the Bombardier CRJ-1000 aircraft there are 18 units that will be returned. CRJ has 18 aircraft, today ‘full grounded’ (grounded in total). This is what we are trying to ‘possibility’ (possibility) returned to them,” he concluded. [antaranews/photo traveltext.id]
