THE city of Cirebon has been known as one of the cities in West Java which is still very thick with historical and cultural elements. Moreover, this area is part of a Cirebon Kasepuhan which still holds tightly to its culture from generation to generation until now.

According to Raden Muhammad Hafid Permadi, Head of the Guiding Section for the Kasepuhan Palace in Cirebon, explained that there are four main structures that support the strong standing of Kasepuhan Cirebon.

“There are four main structures that support the strong support of Kasepuhan Cirebon, namely the mosque as the center of preaching and community education, the market as the center of the community’s economy, the square as the center of community arts and cultural activities and the Palace as the seat of the Keraton government,” he explained to members of the Forum. Tourism and Creative Economy Journalist (Forwaparekraf) in the Cirebon, Kuningan and Bandung Press Tour & Seminar Series event which was held from 27-30 August 2020.

With the central role of the Kasepuhan Cirebon Palace in the midst of society, it is certainly very appropriate that the Keraton, whose architecture is influenced by a distinctive touch of ancient Java and Europe, is considered a symbol of the revival of tourism in Cirebon City.

And in order to maintain the architecture and condition of the building, in addition to routine building maintenance, it also collaborates with various other parties to be able to collaborate in preserving historical and cultural heritage as well as collaboration in supporting programs for implementing health protocols at Keraton Kasepuhan Cirebon.

“Currently, there are various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) from the private sector and State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) to help preserve the palace buildings and support health protocol facilities, such as by providing portable sinks at various points in the palace,” he noted.

Meanwhile, the Head of Tourism, Youth, Sports, Tourism and Culture Office of Cirebon City, Wandi Sofyan, emphasized that Cirebon City pays close attention to health protocols in various tourist destinations, especially in the Kasepuhan Palace in Cirebon.

“We apply health protocols in every tourist destination in Cirebon City. There is a ‘3M’ program consisting of wearing masks, maintaining distance and washing hands. All of these protocol steps are carried out because potential tourists come from the red zone,” he added.

And as additional information delivered by Wandi, in order to support the digitization of tourism in the city of Cirebon, an application was launched that could make it easier for tourists to update Cirebon City tourism information called Cirebon Wistakon which can be installed via the Google Play Store.
