SANDIAGA: MINISTRY IS PUSHING FOR LONG TERM VISAS FOR FOREIGN TOURISTS

THE Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is pushing for Long Term Visas for foreign tourists which are currently being formulated with the Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno said that it is different from the previous visit visas, according to him, a long term visa has a period of five years and can be renewed. This is a major prerequisite so that more people in the digital nomadic world consider Bali as a second home and more people work at home.

“Currently, the digital nomad or someone who works without being bound by time or place is booming around the world. The COVID-19 pandemic, which changes the lifestyle of people who previously had to work in an office to be free, without being limited by space and time, and the Menparekraf considered this trend very likely to be applied in Bali,” he said.

Sandiaga explained that this is because the Island of the Gods has natural beauty equipped with qualified telecommunication infrastructure. We can see that the trend is digital nomad-staycation. So if you work in Bali and not too far from the beach, this will be very attractive, especially with the good weather, very beautiful culture and very friendly people.

“Along with the plan to reopen the Island of the Gods through the travel bubble concept, the staycation program must be realized so that the property business in Bali can recover again. Bali offers a healthy lifestyle, the properties are in good condition and of course the culinary is even more affordable. This is an affirmation that Bali will move quickly and get back up again,” he stated.

Sandiaga added, with so many foreign tourists making Bali their ‘second home’, he believes the property business in Bali will grow. With that, I am sure that the Balinese economy will soon rise through the creation of jobs and the widest possible absorption of labor. [traveltext.id]
