Creating a Better Bali, Act Local, Impact Global With Alila Seminyak

CREATING a better Bali through education and shaping eco-sustainable tourism habits. This year, Alila Seminyak plans to establish more tangible and impactful projects to protect the island’s natural environment and support the welfare of children and adults in need. In addition to its ongoing Zero Waste program.

Alila Seminyak aims topreserve Bali’s cultural heritage and natural beauty, focusing for a start on the surrounding community and working towards a bigger scale in the future. It is also committed to educating less fortunate children through fun yet functional activities.

The projects are ‘Bali Coins’, ‘Nurture Culture and Nurture Nature (NCNN)’, and ‘A Day with Alila’. The goal is simply to replace destructive habits with daily acts that help to conserve Bali’s beautiful nature and bring more people to the island, and in doing so, not neglecting the importance of having fun while helping others.

The first project, ‘Bali Coins’, is a fundraising program that aims to build a brighter future for Bali’s disadvantaged and orphaned children by providing financial support for kids’ general health, wellbeing and education, as well as create greater awareness among families and communities of critical health risks, prevention, and care.

Guests can contribute to Bali Coins through the resort’s F&B outlets, where the price of selected menu items includes an amount to be contributed to the program. The funds collected will be donated 100% to Alila Seminyak and Jemme’s most prestigious annual event, The Bali Ball, which will next be held this October.

Into its 6th year, The Bali Ball has already raised over US$500,000, which has supported many vital charitable organizations, such as Bali Kids, Bali Medika, Bali Children Foundation, and Yayasan Samaratania.

The ‘Nurture Culture and Nurture Nature’ initiative aims to support the local community in actively preserving the beauty of Bali’s nature. Alila Seminyak was recently awarded  EarthCheck Silver Certification in recognition of it being a benchmark leader of ecosustainable luxury hotels on the island. Among the activities on its agenda is a goal to solve the issue of excess ceremonial waste, one of the key challenges Bali faces.

Last, but not least, Alila Seminyak considers the education of the next generation a top priority. ‘A Day with Alila’ is a program that involves Alila Seminyak engaging the students of two local elementary schools, SDN 1 and 2 Kerobokan, in fun and educational activities throughout the year – from providing creative opportunities for them to discover their future dreams and passions, to nurture them to become future hoteliers and global citizens of the world. [traveltextonline.com]
