STATE-Owner Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir ensured that the Jakarta-Bandung fast train project continued to run amid the Covid-19 pandemic that was sweeping Indonesia.
“I think this way, do not procrastinate that needs to be postponed. So the name is the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) that we showed to Mr. President Joko Widodo, we continue to be included in the fast train project,” Erick Thohir said in Jakarta on Monday (31/3).
The State-Owner Enterprises Minister said that despite this at the moment due to the conditions of our partnership with China, certainly foreign workers involved in the high-speed train project could not enter so there were delays.
“But the project is still going on because remember the population of Indonesia is in the hundreds of millions of people, like it or not later that the name of public transportation will be prioritized again,” said Erick.
Previously Minister Erick Thohir included the Jakarta-Bandung fast train project as one of the three priorities of the Ministry of State-Owner Enterprises program.
Erick Thohir hopes that the construction of fast trains can be faster, so that the vision to connect the island of Java with fast trains can become a reality after the Trans Java toll road is now fast trains.
“In the long run, the Jakarta-Bandung express train line will continue to Surabaya via the southern line, so that it can accommodate the transportation needs of residents in southern Java. The government wants to accommodate alternative land transportation for people in southern Java such as Garut, Tasikmalaya, Purwokerto, Yogyakarta, and Solo,” he concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
