CHAIRMAN of the COVID-19 Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling, Doni Monardo announced that some tourism areas will be opened in stages, as part of the commencement of ecosystem-based and conservation activities with the lowest level of COVID-19 risk.
The opening of the tourist area is based on consideration of the wishes of the community, which is accompanied by measurable and continuous preparations by the central government together with the regional government.
“With the preparations measured and continuously by the government together with the local government, today I will announce the areas of natural tourism that are planned to be opened in stages,” explained Doni in an official statement at the Media Center Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID- 19, Graha National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Jakarta, Monday (22/6).
According to Doni, one of the conditions for the natural tourism area that is permitted to be opened is in the Regency/City in the green zone and/or the yellow zone. Other zones will be regulated in accordance with regional readiness and area managers.
The several natural tourism areas consist of marine tourism areas, water conservation areas, adventure tourism areas, National Parks, Nature Tourism Parks, Grand Forest Parks and Wildlife Reserves.
Then geopark, nature tourism non-conservation areas include botanical gardens, zoos, Taman Safari, tourist villages, and nature tourism areas that are managed by the community. In this case, visitors in the area are limited to a maximum of 50% of normal capacity.
“The natural tourism area can be opened gradually until the maximum visitor limit is 50 percent of normal capacity,” explained Doni.
Doni Monardo, who is also the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), said that the decision to open a natural tourism area in 270 regencies / cities in the green zone and the yellow zone, then submitted to the Regent and Mayor.
Decision making must go through a process of deliberation with a regional leadership communication forum that involves the management of the area of natural tourism, the Indonesian Doctors Association in the area, epidemiologists, public health experts, social economists, religious leaders, cultural leaders, cultural leaders, community leaders, press figures, conservationists, and the business world especially the tourism industry and the DPRD through the community-based Pentahelix collaboration approach.
“I also remind that Regents/Mayors always consult with the Governor and refer to regulations that have been made by the central government regarding policies towards a productive and safe society COVID-19,” Doni noted.
In addition, the implementation of the decision must also go through the pre-condition stages namely education, outreach, and simulation in accordance with the conditions of the natural tourism area and the characteristics of the people in each region.
Furthermore, managers of natural tourism areas must prepare health and crisis management protocols to the operational level in each region, and conduct monitoring and evaluation during the pre-conditions and implementation phases. [traveltext.id/photo special]
