AIRBNB limits the flexibility of users under 25 in the UK, France and Spain to rent entire homes through the platform to reduce unauthorized parties and ensure safety.
Airbnb has taken action since last year because many users have made parties full of noise that disrupt the surrounding environment, especially now that the corona virus pandemic has made people more worried about events where there are no social distancing restrictions.
Airbnb began testing the policy in the UK, France and Spain. However, the restriction only applies to users under the age of 25 with fewer than three positive reviews of renting a house close to their residence.
Those who have at least three positive reviews and no negative reviews on Airbnb, or want to rent long-term, are free to rent, and all users can book if they only want to stay in private rooms and hotel rooms via the platform.
“These restrictions are in place to protect the local community while still allowing young guests to book places outside their territory,” Airbnb said in a statement.
This move follows the path that has been implemented in the US and Canada, and Airbnb also strengthens a ban on gathering that violates public health policies in reducing the risk of spreading the corona virus.
“Airbnb is committed to being a good partner for the community and today’s announcement was made after we implemented measures to prevent unauthorized antisocial behavior and parties.” [antaranews]
