DIENG CULTURE FESTIVAL ACTIVITY WILL BE HELD IN SEPTEMBER VIRTUALLY

THE Banjarnegara Regency Government, Central Java, said the Dieng Culture Festival (DCF) activity, which is planned to take place in September 2020, will be held virtually to avoid crowds during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Head of the Banjarnegara Regency Tourism and Culture Office, Central Java, Agung Yusianto in Banjarnegara, Central Java, said the annual Dieng Culture Festival this year’s tourism agenda would be held virtually to prevent the possible spread of COVID-19.

He explained that the Banjarnegara Regency Government decided to continue to hold the Dieng Culture Festival event even though it was virtually because of the many requests from the community.

“In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, it turns out that the public interest in watching the Dieng Culture Festival activities is still quite large so that the Banjarnegara Regency Government decided to facilitate it by holding it virtually,” he said.

This, he said, shows that so far the annual tourism agenda has received a positive response and is in great demand by the public.

However, he continued it was impossible for the tourism office to hold these activities face-to-face because it was feared that it would cause large crowds. If it was held face-to-face like in previous years, it could create an enormous crowd, therefore we think it would be wiser to do it in a virtual pandemic.

“The implementation of the annual Dieng Culture Festival agenda was aimed at preserving local cultural traditions. Even though we can only see it virtually, we hope that the community can still enjoy this event and at the same time participate in preserving the local culture typical of the local area,” he noted.

The Banjarnegara Regency Government, he said, hopes that this virtual Dieng Culture Festival will be able to cure homesickness for the community. The virtual event is planned to take place in September 2020.

“However, the exact date of its implementation is still being discussed by all related parties, we will immediately convey the information to the whole community,” he concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
