INACA ENCOURAGES DIGITALIZATION OF AIRPORT HEALTH CHECKS

THE increasing number of airplane passengers until the fourth week of the Safe Travel Campaign has made the Indonesia National Air Carriers Association (INACA) even more eager to do so until the end of the year. In order to make it easier for people to fly again, INACA encourages the digitalization of health checks at airports by the Ministry of Health.

According to the General Chairperson of INACA, Denon Prawiraatmadja, explaining that checking the health documents of potential passengers by the Port Health Office (KKP) is the duty of the Ministry of Health. KKP officers have the authority to determine whether a prospective passenger can board the plane to fly or not, after examining documents in the form of a certificate/laboratory rapid test result. If a prospective passenger is declared non-reactive, he is allowed to fly. Conversely, if it is reactive, then don’t expect to get on the plane.

“But the process of checking health documents is long, because the KKP is still doing it manually. Not surprisingly, at certain hours at the airport, you can see long queues of passengers to get a flight permit stamp from the KKP officers,” he said.

Denon explained because the work is still manual, checked one by one, so the queue is long. We want the KKP to replace the digital inspection method, as applied to the Indonesia Health Alert Card (eHAC).

He was of the opinion that if the KKP officers were able to carry out checks more quickly, there would be an increase in the number of people who were enthusiastic about flying again. Because it was proven that flying during the New Normal was very easy and didn’t need to be long queues.

According to him, this clearly has a positive impact on Indonesia’s economy which has declined due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Do not let it be because of the lengthy manual inspection process, so it will hamper the growth of passengers and the movement of aircraft which are currently in the recovery phase.

Denon hopes, with the requirement to use air transportation modes that are getting easier, at the end of the year the number of aircraft passengers will increase.

“The Safe Travel Campaign wants to restore the people’s confidence to travel and have a vacation again. Especially the 10 main tourist destinations in Indonesia that are determined by the government,” Denon concluded. [traveltext.id/photo special]
