A NUMBER of countries infected with the corona virus (COVID-19) have quickly adapted through the application of health certificates. But does this immunity passport really help you travel safely?
Quoted from the BBC, the global economy has been heavily affected by COVID-19, especially in reducing the real economy, especially tourism. Meanwhile, currently a number of international flights from several countries will be reactivated, meaning that the government must ensure that this virus infection can be controlled and below average, as well as by developing a vaccine.
This condition makes it more difficult for airlines, tour operators and hotels to survive. In the next few months, there will be new innovations, namely digital immunity passports, which have the potential to help international flights.
According to Husayn Kassai, Co-Founder and CEO of Onfido, a London-based technology company, the digital immunity passport will justify facial health. So that the results of this immunity passport will present a person’s immunity levels.
“This is designed to prove the health status of each individual without the need to share that person’s personal information. Currently, immunity passports are under development, especially for workers in the front line, namely medical personnel, so that they can help them work safely in hospitals,” Husayn said.
In April 2020, Onfido was invited to submit a digital health certification project proposal to the UK Government’s Department of Science and Technology. In the proposal, Onfido emphasized squeezing the immunity passport as one of the conditions in the new normal.

Later, travelers will have to create a digital identity account by uploading a number of important documents such as a passport, ID or Driver linsence as well as a selfie photo from their cellphone. The identity of the user will then be registered in the certification process at the national health institution.
The certification results will be sent via cellphone with an activation code that you can access every time you enter public buildings and public transportation. Onfido will also complement this technology with user identity verification. However, this will be adjusted to the procedures from the British government to manage the health data.
The discussion about immunity passports in the UK is only in its early stages. The UK government is also still receiving a number of proposals from other companies such as Yoti, Nomidio, and Berlin-based IDNow, whose medical and academic expertise is similar to immunity status checking schemes.
Currently the selection team is still researching, the British government will formally adopt immunity passports, with the risk that similar documents will also be applied in other countries such as; Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Israel, Colombia, Argentina, Estonia and the United States.
A number of countries that have been infected with COVID-19 must quickly adopt health certificates such as in China which relies on the health code for each individual who will show symptoms, to health conditions. Even though it is not completely the same as the immunity passport, this method helps provide virus-free certification for people who have recovered from COVID-19 so that they can return to their activities.
