PRESIDENT Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, assess it will take too long to follow the prediction that the aviation industry will only fully recover in 2022 after the COVID-19 pandemic.
“An astonishing analysis emerged, in which data and interests emerged, the most aggressive in two years. This means that we will recover in 2022, I am the person who says we don’t have time, it’s just too long,” Irfan said.
For this reason, Irfan said that Garuda Indonesia must do everything possible so that the aviation industry, especially the airline business, can resume running even though the pandemic is still the only thing that can save the aviation business, according to him, is passengers who board the plane.
“We have to do all kinds of means to ensure recovery. Only passengers who get on and pay no discount can make it faster,” he noted.
He added that the current effort of Garuda Indonesia is to ensure that flying with Garuda is safe and comfortable with a seat configuration that applies a guarding distance (middle seats are not filled unless family requests), each prospective passenger must submit proof of a quick test with non-reactive results or PCR/Swab. with negative results and air circulation in the aircraft cabin that has applied HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) technology.
“When in doubt, I can assure you what you need to ensure a sense of security. Efforts to accelerate economic recovery cannot wait for the government to wait for the COVID-19 vaccine. If the government already has the vaccine and it returns to normal in two years, it’s not enough for me,” he stated.
He explained other efforts taken by Garuda Indonesia, such as opening new routes, including Bandung (Husein Sastranegara)-Denpasar (roundtrip), Bandung (Husein Sastranegara)-Medan (roundtrip), Balikpapan-Berau (roundtrip), Balikpapan-Makassar (roundtrip), Balikpapan-Yogyakarta(roundtrip), Balikpapan-Banjarmasin (roundtrip), Makassar-Berau (roundtrip), Makassar-Manado.
