MINISTER of Tourism and Creative Economy, Wishnutama Kusubandio emphasized the importance of strategic policies for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in an effort to restore the tourism sector and creative economy due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Wishnutama Kusubandio while attending the Extraordinary G20 State Tourism Ministers’ meeting which was held virtually, Wednesday (7/10), said Indonesia had always seen the importance of strategic policies for efforts to increase micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
“History records, in a crisis situation like now due to the COVID-19 pandemic, MSME actors are actually present to be the backbone of economic resilience. I also encourage strengthening of MSME players to be a joint strategy of the G20 countries in improving the tourism sector again,” he said.
He explained that I am confident that this strategy will strengthen our approach to creating inclusive solutions in developing countries as well as countries that depend on travel.
“Indonesia calls on continuing to build strategic trust and mutual trust among the G20 countries through continuous dialogue, mutually beneficial cooperation, and steps to build trust among the public in the tourism sector,” he noted.
He added, today’s meeting of ministers is only one strong evidence of our determination to continue to work together in dealing with this COVID-19 pandemic. Ensuring that the tourism sector will not only recover quickly, but more importantly, will also recover towards a more resilient and sustainable industry, “Wishnutama said.
Indonesia, he continued, had also initiated the 2021 international creative economy year resolution which was later widely adopted by the United Nations (UN) with the headline “International Year on Creative Economy for Sustainable Development 2021”. This resolution emphasizes the important role of the creative economy in realizing the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“In the spirit of celebrating this resolution, I invite all G20 countries to attend the World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) in Indonesia which will be held in Bali in May 2021,” Wishnutama stated.
Finally, he expressed his high appreciation to the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as Chair of the 2020 G20 Forum.
“We have big challenges and opportunities at the same time. It is imperative for all of us G20 members to strengthen cooperation and collaboration. Let us work hand in hand to make the tourism sector a better, stronger, and more sustainable tourism sector in the future,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
