INDONESIAN Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is preparing a new marketing and service strategy for diving tourism businesses by implementing a health protocol based on Cleanliness, Healthy, Safety, & Environmental Sustainability (CHSE). This is an effort to improve the performance of diving tourism during the adaptation of new habits.
This activity is a socialization guide for the implementation of the CHSE Dive Business. This time the socialization is aimed at diving tourism businesses around Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang Depok, Bekasi, Serang and Bandung. After previously a series of outreach activities had been carried out in several hybrid diving destinations in Manado, Labuan Bajo and Bali in October 2020.
According to Deputy for Tourism Products and Event Organizers, Rizki Handayani, during the CHSE Guide & Market Updates Socialization for Diving Tourism, Tuesday (3/11), said the COVID-19 pandemic had a tremendous impact on the tourism sector, especially diving tourism. Therefore, one of the efforts to revive the tourism sector is by implementing the CHSE protocol.
“The CHSE dive tour guide is one of the strategies that have been compiled together to become an important unit in an effort to provide a sense of security for diving tours. Because we know diving has a lot to do with the mouth, so there are lots of droplets. So with this guide , it can create a sense of security and comfort for tourists to dive,” Rizki said.
Rizki continued Tourism Ministry has issued a health protocol in the dive tourism business as a guide for actors and tourists to do diving activities. The implementation of health protocols not only ensures the industry’s readiness to rise but also increases the trust of tourists. Foreign tourists are ready to come back to Indonesia to enjoy diving tours. Therefore, Indonesia must prepare comfort and safety for tourists.
“We have had meetings with dive tourism businesses in several countries some time ago about the markets in Europe, America, Australia and China. And they are actually ready to come back to Indonesia. We hope that in the future it can be implemented with standard health protocols,” she noted.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Indonesian Dive Business Association (PUWSI), Ricky Soerapoetra, explained that dive tourism businesses in Indonesia are still experiencing a decline in the number of tourists. Based on the survey as of April 2020, there were 102 businesses that were not operating, and 44% of workers were laid off with dependents, but I think this number will increase or maybe have increased.
Ricky hopes that diving tourism businesses can rise up by implementing a strategy of implementing a CHSE-based health protocol specifically for diving tourism with discipline. So that this can create a sense of security for tourists to return to diving tourism.
Likewise, the President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II, Muhammad Awaluddin, said that even at the airport itself, large-scale restrictions are still being implemented. This is an effort to meet the health protocol standards that have been set by the government.
“We are implementing the government’s appeal, in essence we are still limiting foreign tourists on a large scale for tourism. Those who can come to Indonesia who have a temporary stay card or permanent residence card, for example, are working in Indonesia,” Awaluddin concluded. [traveltext.id]
