PRESIDENT Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conveyed an evaluation of the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) from 11 to 15 January. The PPKM carried out to deal with the corona virus pandemic (COVID-19) is still not effective. This is because the implementation is not optimal so the transmission rate does not show a decrease.
“The essence of this PPKM limits mobility, but what I see in its implementation is that we are not firm and inconsistent,” said President Jokowi in a limited meeting at the Bogor Palace. I emphasize all parties involved in PPKM to go directly to the field. This is to ensure that health protocols are implemented. Among others, by using a mask, washing hands, and maintaining distance.
Jokowi also expressed his disappointment with the economic sector that was the victim of the handling of COVID-19. Be careful this goes down. There is a PPKM economy going down, actually it’s okay as long as the COVID-19 also goes down, but (it) doesn’t.
Jokowi asked that policy-making should involve epidemiologists. So that the policies taken can be effective in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
