TRAVEL BUBBLE, INDONESIA-SINGAPORE BORDER WILL BE OPENED SOON LIMITEDLY

INDONESIA-Singapore border will be opened limitedly, the Indonesian government is preparing steps to open the border in a limited manner with safe travel corridors using a travel bubble.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno in a Hybrid Weekly Press Brief (22/3), the limited opening of borders with safe travel corridors began on Kartini Day celebrations, April 21, 2021.

“There are two locations that are planned as” bubbles “in the safe travel corridor in the Riau Islands (Kepri), namely Nongsa in Batam City and Lagoi in Bintan Regency. Both are exclusive tourist areas, which are located relatively far from residential areas, so that it is more likely,” he said.

The statement of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, is like a sweet promise for Riau Islands business players who have almost “died” due to border closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But of course the designated Kepri tourist destination must prepare itself. Don’t let this policy backfire on the health of the citizens of the two neighboring countries.

However, when asked about the health protocol for Singaporean tourists when traveling there, Sandiaga Uno said that the Indonesian and Singaporean governments would agree on enough PCR checks twice, namely in Singapore before arrival to Bintan with a validity period of 72 hours and at Bintan Resorts before returning to Singapore.

“The examination is important, in order to ensure that all travelers from Singapore are free of the Corona Virus when they are about to visit, and return to Singapore also in good health, not exposed to COVID-19. However, visitors are required to do the GeNose test as if they were substituted for the PCR test when they arrive at our port,” Sandiaga Uno said.

He added, in addition to inspections for visitors entering the sea route, GeNose is also carried out as a test tool for travelers who come from land roads, as well as for workers. The plan, of the eight GeNose C19, three of which are placed at the land gate, three at the sea gate and the rest for the needs of workers.

“Not only strict health checks, the Indonesian government also tracks and traces COVID-19 to workers and tourists who come there,” he concluded. [traveltext.id/photo special]
