“GeNose is already operating in 21 airports. We will implement this approaching 100 airports to reach Eastern Indonesia. I have asked the Director General of Civil Aviation to coordinate with UGM to discuss this matter,” Budi Karya said in a press statement in Jakarta, Saturday (24/4).

Budi Karya detailed the 21 airports that have implemented Genose, namely: Yogyakarta (YIA), Palembang (PLM), Bandung (BDO), Surabaya (SUB), Bali (DPS), Batam (BTH), Samarinda (AAP), Pangkal Pinang (PGK), Tanjung Pandan (TJQ), Jambi (DJB), Makassar (UPG), Gorontalo (GTO), Palu (PLW), Pontianak (PNK), Lampung (TKG), Tanjung Pinang (TNJ), Balikpapan (BPN) , Tarakan (TRK), Sentani (DJJ), Tambolaka (TMC), and Banjarmasin (BDJ).

Budi Karya Sumadi explained that currently GeNose has also been used in 44 stations and more than 500,000 people have tested it. Meanwhile at the airport, 100,000 people have tested.

“So we must be proud that there are products of the nation’s children that exist. GeNose has three advantages, namely fast, painless, and cheap,” he said.

He reminded that COVID-19 detection test services, whether using GeNose, or other detection tools, namely: PCR and Rapid Antigen Test, must be taken seriously to ensure that passengers traveling are truly negative for COVID-19.

The application of GeNose in transportation nodes is regulated in the Circular of the Ministry of Transportation No. 26 of 2021 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of Domestic Travel with Air Transportation during the COVID-19 Pandemic, as a follow-up to the COVID-19 Task Force Circular No. 12/2021 on Travel Domestic People During the COVID-19 Pandemic.
