INDONESIA’S Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy facilitates the implementation of a surveillance audit of the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) The Nusa Dua Bali, on 6-8 May 2021 in order to strengthen the branding and reputation of these destinations so that tourism destination development must prioritize a platform for innovation, adaptation and collaboration with increasingly increase community and stakeholder participation and contribute to sustainable tourism activities.
This surveillance audit is carried out by LS-Pro ISTC as a certification body under the auspices of the Tourism Ministry and is part of the Indonesia Sustainable Tourism Council.
According to the Deputy for the Development of Destinations and Infrastructure of Tourism Ministry as well as the lead auditor, Frans Teguh, in his statement on Sunday (9/5) said that the surveillance audit is a stage of performance monitoring and evaluation carried out by certification bodies to destinations that have received certification before the certification period. ended.
“This is to ensure that destination managers remain committed and comply in implementing the principles of sustainable tourism in accordance with the standard criteria used as a reference in the certification scheme, namely Minister of Tourism Regulation No. 14 of 2016 concerning Guidelines for Standards for Sustainable Tourism Destinations in Indonesia,” Frans Teguh said.
As is known, the Sustainable Tourism certification for ITDC has been given since September 2019. This certification is valid for 3 years until September 2022. During this period, monitoring and supervision of the performance of the Nusa Dua destination is required.
Furthermore, Frans Teguh explained that there are four standard categories in this measurement and monitoring, including sustainable management, socio-economic, cultural and ecological sustainability.
“Performance achievements are made so that ITDC will maintain its reputation and quality of destination governance orchestration. In addition, the implementation of the scheme and system for monitoring energy efficiency, carbon footprint and ecological footprint to reach a green destination also needs to be encouraged.
