FOLLOWING UP ON DEV’T OF THE INDEPENDENT TOURISM VILLAGES CONCEPT

INDONESIA’S Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will follow up on the development of independent tourism villages with a functional approach, namely an approach to the functions of product and service aspects, community empowerment aspects, and marketing and product aspects.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, said this 3-aspect functional approach aims to accelerate the development of independent tourism villages so as to encourage the revival of the tourism sector in the creative economy and stimulate economic growth in Indonesia.

“The development of a tourism village is a step taken by theTourim Ministry in fulfilling regional development priority indicators in the 2020–2024 National Medium Term Development Plan. Tourism Ministry is targeting as many as 244 certified tourist villages to become independent tourism villages by 2024,” Sandiaga said.

He explained that the functional approach from the product and service aspects would later focus on several programs including certification of sustainable tourism villages, creating innovative tour packages, identifying and developing 3A potentials (Attractions, Amenities, and Accessibility).

“Then in the aspect of community empowerment, one of the programs that will be carried out is to provide assistance and development of Human Resources (HR) as well as strengthening village management institutions. Then in this aspect of marketing and sales the approach is supply and demand. So on the supply side, providing products and in demand provides sales marketing,” he stated.

Furthermore, Sandiaga said that in the 3-aspect functional approach, it did not only emphasize the tourism sector, but was also accompanied by its creative economy products. The concept of three is not a problem, it is good, but there are other things to be confident as well. So, not only the tourism villages, but also the creative economy products need to enter. I also encourage tourism villages in Indonesia can present superior products that are authentic in accordance with the potential of their respective regions.
