MINISTER of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno invited more tourist villages to participate in the Anugerah Desa Wisata Indonesia (ADWI) or Indonesia Tourism Village Award 2021. He paid a visit to the Desa Adat Mas (Traditional Mas Village) in the Ubud area, Gianyar Regency, Bali, Wednesday (26/5).
In addition to seeing firsthand the potential of the village which is known as the oldest carving village that has existed since 1930 and is well known in the European market, Sandiaga revealed that he came to Traditional Mas Village as well as socializing ADWI 2021.
ADWI 2021 is one of the Ministry of Tourism’s flagship programs to revive the tourism sector and creative economy in Indonesia which was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This tourism village award is a form of partiality, a form of economic justice to help our brothers who really need it, namely tourism and creative economy actors, especially those in tourist villages,” Sandiaga said.
He explained, this program is expected to be able to realize Indonesia’s vision as a World Class Tourism Destination Country, Competitive, Sustainable and Capable of Encouraging Regional Development and People’s Welfare.
Sandiaga added that there were seven assessment categories in this award event. Namely the implementation of Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental sustainability (CHSE) in digital villages; souvenirs (culinary, fashion, craft); tourist attraction (natural, cultural, artificial); creative content; homestay and toilet.
Through these categories, it is hoped that it will be able to encourage the development of tourism villages into sustainable tourism and as materials to improve the quality that can be followed by all villages in Indonesia.
Sandiaga said, tourist villages have enormous potential to revive the tourism sector and the creative economy in the country. This tourist village provides so many jobs and opens up business opportunities. And it can improve people’s skills to digitize content selling online.
“This activity is also to build motivation for village development and become an economic driver at the village level through tourism villages. With this socialization, we hope that it will generate interest from tourist villages throughout Indonesia to register themselves. So don’t forget to register your village in Anugerah Desa Wisata Indonesia 2021 on the page www.jadesta.com/adwi2021 until June 26, 2021,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
