PT TELKOM Indonesia together with the Telecommunication and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) of the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) are collaborating to realize the digitization of the tourism industry in five super priority tourism destinations (SPTD) in Indonesia, as a form of accelerating national economic recovery.
According to the Director of BAKTI, Anang Latief, in a press release received in Jakarta, Wednesday (26/5), said the collaboration was carried out in order to develop the Tourism Network (JP) Hub. The main support for JP Hub is Wonderin.id which is a digital platform for Indonesian travel and tourism developed by Telkom.
“BAKTI Kominfo apart from distributing infrastructure, especially in the Frontier, Outermost and Remote areas, as well as areas that still do not have telecommunication access, also develops digital ecosystems,” said Anang Latief.
He explained, one of the cooperation with Telkom is not only limited to providing telecommunication connections, but also provides added value in the form of digital capabilities to support the community’s economy, especially related to tourism.
“The scope of cooperation includes training and mentoring tourism players in digitizing the accommodation sector, tourist attractions and tour packages. This program starts from a location in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), which is a Super Premium Tourism Destination launched by the Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo,” he said.
He added that later on, there will be 10 districts that will be targets for the implementation of digitalization (onboarding), namely Manggarai, West Manggarai, East Manggarai, Ngada, Nageko, Ende, Sikka, Lembata, East Flores, and Alor.
Meanwhile, Telkom’s SVP of Corporate Communication & Investor Relations, Ahmad Reza, said that PT Telkom continues to take the initiative to take a role in ensuring the adoption of digital-based technology to encourage economic recovery, including the tourism industry.
“Through Wonderin.id we will continue to encourage collaborative efforts with all stakeholders in order to achieve a better tourism digitization process in the future,” he stated.
Reza hopes that this training can be an interactive activity that can facilitate business owners to develop their business potential, armed with digital transformation that is applied holistically. In addition, it is hoped that this service will also simplify the management process to sales, so that various tourism business managers can continue to move forward with the latest developments.
“We believe that digitalization will make Indonesia even better. Wonderin.id is an Indonesian digital tourism platform made by Telkom, which is a technology solution to encourage the development of the tourism ecosystem,” he noted.
This platform, he continued, presents excellent services including XGDS (Global Distribution System) to build bridges and strong networks with tourism partners in marketing products and services, simplifying distribution access and information, and travel business analysis to improve the transaction experience for partners.
After working with various parties, both State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and tourism players, Wonderin.id will continue to strengthen its role in assisting Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) players to become the main driver of national tourism economic growth and the progress of an inclusive and sustainable digital ecosystem in Indonesia.
