INDONESIA’S Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy just completed the promotion of Indonesia’s tourism and creative economy (parekraf) at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) Dubai 2021 exhibition.
According to the Deputy for Marketing of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Nia Niscaya, in her statement on Friday (28/5), said that this event had been held in a hybrid manner from Dubai, United Arab Emirates and in Indonesia. This exhibition aims to restore and open up new opportunities, especially in the tourism industry.
“The Dubai ATM Exhibition in 2021, which was attended by 62 countries, carries the theme” A New Dawn for Travel and Tourism “and has been held on 16-19 May 2021 offline at the Dubai World Trade Center. Then, followed by a hybrid event on 24-26 May 2021 in Bali,” said Nia.
Nia explained that this exhibition is expected to stimulate the enthusiasm of Indonesian tourism and creative economy (parekraf) playerrs to continue to innovate and adapt. Especially to welcome back the arrival of foreign tourists when international flights have been completely opened when the COVID-19 pandemic has been handled properly.
“Through this activity, together with our industry we want to strengthen and expand the scope of the tourism market and Indonesia’s creative economy in the international market, so that in time for tourism recovery we will not be left behind with competing countries who also continue to communicate with target market countries,” she stated.
In the offline exhibition in Dubai, the Indonesian delegation was represented by 20 representatives of tourism and hotel service providers. This year’s promotion is focused on five super priority destinations, namely Mandalika, Lombok, Lake Toba, Likupang, Labuan Bajo, and Borobudur. Not only that, the Wonderful Indonesia pavilion also promotes tourism in other areas in Indonesia by implementing strict and disciplined health protocols.
“Apart from the 20 representatives who participated in the exhibition in Dubai, there were also 100 tourism and hotel service providers participating in the hybrid exhibition in Bali on 24-26 May 2021. Our participation in this event is mainly to convince industrial partners in the country. target market that Indonesian destinations are ready to receive tourists again by implementing strict health protocols,” Nia noted.
Nia even signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoU) between Tourism Ministry and Emirates Airlines. This signing is expected to increase Indonesia’s tourism marketing efforts in the international world, especially in the United Arab Emirates and the Middle East.
“The Middle East market, especially the United Arab Emirates, is one of the contributors to tourist visits to Indonesia with quite a large number. In 2019, for example, there were around 263,923 tourists from the United Arab Emirates visiting Indonesia,” she added.
