MANY of us choose to look for low-cost airlines to travel with. Even before deciding to book a plane ticket, we always look for the cheapest cost.
Of course, by looking for airlines with low costs, you can save your expenses. However, aren’t you curious to see how much the most expensive ticket costs and the facilities provided? Launching Airport Spotting, Thursday (6/3) here are the 10 most expensive flights in the world:
(1). New York to Tokyo – ANA Class 1 – US$15,000 approximately IDR225 million. With a Japanese culture that values respect and honor, it’s no surprise that you will experience impeccable service on every ANA flight. Class 1 just takes it one step further and gives you everything you need in your fingerprint.
The first-class cabin of this aircraft has plenty of privacy, and you’ll get all the luxuries you’d expect from such a high-value service. Surprisingly at US$$15,000, making it the cheapest on this list.
(2). New York to Abu Dhabi – Etihad Apartment A380 – US$16,000 around IDR240 million. As the second largest airline in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), you can expect complete luxury from all Etihad flights. Of course, flying on the A380 is even more luxurious.
This first class apartment is the first in the world to occupy a full island. At 40 square feet, they offer complete autonomy and a bench open to the bed for comfortable sleep on longer flight routes.
(3). New York to Singapore – Virgin Atlantic Upscale – US$20,000 approx. IDR300 million. Richard Branson was a man known for luxury and exorbitant taste. Therefore, it is not surprising that his company, Virgin Atlantic, has one of the most expensive flight options in the world.
Upscale is similar to first class but more luxurious. The cabins are stately, with a high level of privacy, a common bar for drinks and of course all the amenities you’d expect from a high-caliber flight.
(4). New York to Hong Kong – Class 1 Cathay Pacific 777 – US$20,000 approx. IDR300 million. Cathay Pacific has the best aviation reputation worldwide. Although it has remained largely unchanged over the years, it is nothing to laugh at. At 36 inches wide, these cabins are some of the most spacious you can get and will convert into a very comfortable bed to sleep in.
Although luxurious and comfortable, some passengers expect the food to be of higher quality. However, overall it was still a fantastic flight experience.
(5). New York to Singapore – Swiss Air First Class – US$22,000 (roundtrip) approx. IDR330 million. The Swiss like to call this class ‘Your Home Above the Clouds’. With free pajamas and luxurious amenities, this is a very fitting nickname.
The food was delightful, even Michelin starred, and the whole Swiss experience. While not as extensive as other providers, Switzerland allows more baggage per person.
(6). New York to Beijing – Korean Air First Class – US$27,000 approx. IDR405 million. Korea is a technologically advanced country so it’s only natural that first-class suites should be too. Officially called Prestige Suites, these cabins feature a touchpad that controls everything, fully reclined seats and a 17″-inch flat-screen TV.
You can enjoy all of this in complete privacy and with Mercury Award winning food. Unfortunately, they limit the number of flights that offer this service. You have to choose your flights carefully if you want to enjoy them.
(7). San Francisco to Abu Dhabi – Etihad Airways – US$28,000 approx. IDR420 million. This is Etihad’s second listing on this list so by now you should know that this suite is going to be a fantastic offering. Your suite features a 23-inch flat-screen TV, middle eastern menu and super comfortable leather chairs. You also get a minibar stocked with stuff.
(8). Los Angeles to Dubai – Emirates Class 1 – US$30,000 approx. IDR450 million. When you hear most expensive flights, your first thought might be Etihad, but Emirates probably won’t be far behind. Honestly, when you’re paying up to US$30,000 for a one-way ticket, you expect the best of the best.
In addition to the fully partitioned private suites, there is a communal “living room” with a bar, minibar, dressing table and even spa facilities. If that wasn’t enough, the spa facilities come with a Bulgarian amenity kit. Overall, this is the most fun you can have on one of the longest flights in the world.
(9). New York to Hong Kong – Lufthansa Class 1 – US$43,000 approx. IDR645 million. Many people think of European aviation when they hear the name Lufthansa. However, they are wrong, because they provide some of the best ways to get around the world. Like many of the services on this list, the experience begins long before you board the plane.
You can even ask the new Porsche to take you to the exclusive lounge of your hotel. The food is Michelin star, the wine is fantastic, the amenities include all the equivalent of a kitchen sink.
(10. New York to Abu Dhabi – Etihad Airways Residence – US$64,000 approx. IDR960 million. Etihad appears several times on this list which is not surprising as it is the flag bearer for the UAE. Also, as a #avgeek, you may have heard of Etihad’s Residence Suites.
If you thought the other items on this list were luxurious and extraordinary, then we have a surprise for you. The name Residence is fully justified as you get a three bedroom apartment consisting of a bedroom (with a double bed), a lounge and a bathroom with shower. If that wasn’t enough, you get all the bonuses you’ve read about above, and a personal butler to cater to your every whim. A one-way ticket will cost you US$64,000 for an Airbus A380.
