THE Government of the Special Region of Yogyakarta is ready to collaborate with tourism actors in this region to support the realization of the ‘Work From Yogyakarta’ program or work from Yogyakarta as the discourse of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno.
According to the Secretary of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (Sekda DIY) Kadarmanta Baskara in Yogyakarta, Wednesday (6/9) said that because the discourse of ‘Work From Jogja’ has emerged again, we are ready to collaborate again. I think tourism activists are ready.
He explained, in addition to ensuring the readiness of tourism actors, the Yogyakarta Regional Government is preparing incentives to support the program. The forms of incentives that will be given can vary. One of them can be in the form of incentives to watch the show for every tourist who stays at the hotel.
“We work day and night, we provide incentives such as Ramayana performances or something. We can also give food vouchers at Malioboro, for example catfish pecel. It is not ‘punished’ (beaten at a price that is too high) but instead is discounted,” he said.
Through the program, he assessed that anyone who works while traveling in DIY can enjoy the incentives offered, including in the form of souvenirs, hotels, and culinary products. DIY tourism growth in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic is highly dependent on collaboration and cooperation from all parties.
“It’s time for all of us from various sectors to continue working together with the aim of increasing economic growth. I hope the synergy created will not only support the economic sector, but also the DIY education sector,” he noted.
Previously Sandiaga Uno in Jakarta said he was preparing the Special Region of Yogyakarta as a tourist destination for workers. Similar initiatives have previously been implemented in Bali through the ‘Work From Bali’ program.
Meanwhile, the Head of the DIY Tourism Office, Singgih Raharjo, confirmed that DIY tourism was ready to implement the Work From Yogyakarta program. Moreover, Internet connection in Yogyakarta I think there are no obstacles. I think Yogyakarta has potential because it can be reached by any means.
“Before the tourism concept was pushed by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, a number of hotels in DIY had initiated work from hotel packages to attract tourists or visitors from among workers. Starting from the atmosphere to the internet connection, he said, hotel managers have prepared to make it comfortable for visitors to stop by as a place to work,” he added.
He pointed out that apart from hotels, tourist villages in DIY also have potential as destinations for workers. Moreover, in tourist villages in general, there are home stays that can be used as a comfortable workspace. [antaranews/photo special]
