IT IS no longer a secret that tourist villages will become one of the flagship programs of the Indonesia’s of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency in early 2021.
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy targets as many as 244 tourist villages in Indonesia to become independent tourism villages by 2024. Of the 244 tourist villages, 150 tourist villages are located in five super priority destinations (5 DSP) and will be expanded.
As a tourist destination, a tourist village has the advantage where you can enjoy culture, nature, and the simplicity of society and environmental conservation. One of the steps that have been taken is through the certification of sustainable tourism villages that have been given to 16 tourist villages in Indonesia.
“We provide Sustainable Tourism Village certification to realize sustainable and prosperous tourism. This certification is a form of implementing quality tourism in the midst of COVID-19 conditions by implementing 4K, namely Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability,” said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, early April 2021. .
Of the 16 tourist villages that have been certified, it turns out that some have won world awards related to sustainable tourism. Precisely in 2019, the 4 tourist villages won awards as Sustainable Destinations Top 100 released by Global Green Destinations Days (GGDD).
