YOGYAKARTA TOURISM SECTOR HAS THE GREAT POTENTIAL TO CONTINUE GROW

YOGYAKARTA is said to have great potential to grow the tourism sector, especially now that there is a Trans Java toll road that makes it easier for people to travel.

According to the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Travel Agent Association (ASTINDO), Pauline Suharno, Tuesday (6/29) said that during the pandemic, Yogyakarta became one of the destinations that the public went to. The location is also easily accessible if you want to bring your own vehicle. Not bad (tourism growth) because now many are open land, it’s easy with the new toll road, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta are already crowded.

Pauline said that currently people are more looking for natural tourist destinations compared to attractions that are in closed spaces and Yogyakarta also has these attractions.

Likewise, was conveyed by the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Entrepreneur (PHRI) Hariyadi Sukamdani who said that Yogyakarta is a popular destination in Java, even a new destination is introduced every month.

“There are quite a lot of tourist attractions in Yogya. Yogya people are very creative, every month there are always new tourist attractions released,” said Hariyadi.

According to Hariyadi, most of Yogyakarta’s visitors come from Jakarta and Surabaya. However, other areas around Yogyakarta such as Solo and Semarang are also cities visited by local tourists.

“If there is no implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM), Yogyakarta can still grow, especially if there is a toll road. That really influences the Yogyakarta and Solo movements,” said Hariyadi.

Meanwhile, Hariyadi said that hotels that implement health protocols based on Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environment Sustainability or known as CHSE are more attractive to the public when visiting tourist destinations.

“CHSE is a mandatory consideration for local tourists, even though the price paid will be more expensive. With the implementation of these standards, tourists feel more secure and comfortable. They will believe more if the destination implements CHSE correctly,” Hariyadi concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
