THE movement of passengers at the domestic arrival gate of Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport reached 3,149 people on Wednesday (6/30) or down 41% compared to the previous day.
According to the Stakeholder Relations Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I, Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Taufan Yudhistira said that the decline in passengers began to occur on the first day of the ban on the use of GeNose as a condition for entry to the Island of the Gods.
“So based on the Circular of the Governor of Bali, the use of GeNose as one of the conditions for entering the island is temporarily suspended. The number of passengers who came to the Island of the Gods on Wednesday (6/30) or the first day of the ban on the use of GeNose was 3,149 passengers. Previously, on Tuesday (6/29) or the day before this ban took effect, the number of passengers arriving at Ngurah Rai Airport was still at 5,362 people and on Monday (6/28) the number reached 5,610 people in a day.
He explained that the drop in the number of passengers at the domestic arrival gate of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport was probably due to the tightened entry requirements to the island using a PCR-based swab test. In the future, the number of passengers is predicted to stagnate at 3,000 people per day.
“Currently, there is an obligation to come to Bali by air using a PCR-based swab, so automatically the decrease in passengers can be due to that too. We predict that in the future the number will stagnate at 3,000 people per day,” he added.
The Governor of Bali has issued Circular Letter Number 8/2021 on Monday, June 28, 2021, in which it stipulates those domestic travelers using air transportation are required to bring a certificate of negative PCR-based swab test results no later than 2×24 hours before departure. On the other hand, land and sea transportation users are required to bring a negative result of a rapid antigen test or PCR-based swab no later than 2×24 hours before departure.
