THERE ARE INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT ARRANGEMENTS AND QUARANTINE EXTENSION

THE Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy supports international flight arrangements and extended quarantine rules as an effort to suppress the spread of COVID-19.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, in his statement, Saturday (7/3), Tourism Ministry is fully supporting the policy for the implementation of Java-Bali Micro Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM), including international flight arrangements and extended quarantine.

“We also call for closing all destinations and postponing all tourism and creative events throughout Indonesia. We understand that this is bittersweet for all industries and actors in tourism and the creative economy, but the COVID-19 data shows an emergency so we cannot take even more serious risks and must prioritize health factors,” said Sandiaga Uno.

This was conveyed as a follow-up to the results of the virtual coordination meeting with the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment on 3 July 2021 regarding International Aviation and Quarantine Regulations during Emergency PPKM on 3-20 July 2021.

“We hope that the curve of COVID-19 cases will quickly go down and we can immediately reopen all creative and creative activities,” Sandiaga underlined.

He added, in order to limit the number of COVID-19 transmissions, Tourism Ministry supports the policy to keep borders open, be it land, sea, or air, but by increasing requirements so that anyone who passes can be monitored and selected properly and strictly.

A number of tightened requirements include foreign nationals including foreign tourists who will enter Indonesia must be able to show a certificate of proof that they have been vaccinated against COVID-19, have a valid PCR test result, then must undergo another PCR test after arriving in Indonesia and on the 7th day after arrival, and quarantined for 8 days before carrying out activities in Indonesian territory.

Furthermore, foreign nationals who currently exist and work in Indonesia, according to data from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there are 225,000 people who also need to be given access to get vaccinated because they live side by side in the territory of Indonesia which also frequently travels for domestic tourism in Indonesia.

“On the other hand, preparations for planning the reopening of tourism destinations, both at the center and at the regional level, must continue,” Sandiaga noted.

He gave an example, for example, the plan to open a tourist destination in Bali which still has to ensure at least 3 things, namely vaccination preconditions must increase to 70-80%, end-to-end Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) implementation must be completed, and new COVID-19 infections in the area must be below 100.
