THE HOSPITALITY industry disappointed, even though it already has a Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) certificate, it cannot operate normally during the Level-4 Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM).
The Indonesian Hotel General Manager Association (IHGMA) conveyed their complaints regarding the condition of the hospitality industry during the PPKM Level-4 to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno.
According to IHGMA Head Research, Dino Leonandri in a virtual meeting, entitled ‘Hospitality Rises – Adaptation to Regulations?’ Tuesday (8/3/), alluding to the CHSE issue which has been implemented by hotels but is still affected by PPKM Level-4.
“When PPKM Level-4 was implemented, the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions & Exhibitions (MICE) facilities did not operate even though the hotel had received a CHSE certificate. The problem was the enforcement of rules for public places such as markets, food stalls, and so on. those that are already certified are not left open so the industry can breathe too?” said Dino.
Furthermore, Dino also explained that CHSE-certified hotels also always carry out strict and sustainable health protocols. The employees also always make guests aware of the proper health protocols.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, said I could understand the concerns of hotel industry players. The reason is, I also have investment in hospitality and really feels the impact of PPKM Level-4 even though the hotel is already CHSE certified.
“I have the same thought. I invested in hotels. It makes no difference. It’s CHSE, we are very disciplined. Even though what’s wrong is not the activities at the hotel or restaurant but the mistakes of crowding, ignoring health protocols, not vaccinating, not expanding testing and tracing,” Sandiaga remarked.
He emphasized that so, hang on guys, we will try to fix this in the future. These improvements include proposing that hotels get different treatment in the middle of the PPKM policy.
“We now, have the task of how this CHSE after one year can be maintained and received a recognition so that the gas brake concept applied here can be adapted to the CHSE certification that has been given,” Sandiaga underlined.
Sandiaga also strives for CHSE-certified hotels to get incentives by entering into the Peduli Protect application which is connected to vaccination data and testing and tracing data.
In addition, Sandiaga also said that the Ministry of Tourism would continue to expand the awarding of CHSE certificates this year. This year there are only 6,000, we want to catch up to 8,000. I also want this CHSE to touch small businesses.
Furthermore, Sandiaga also invited hotels to be active in vaccination activities. Please also encourage vaccination at your hotel premises. Because we are now presenting fun vaccinations at picnic spots or vaccines with the view, vaccines with benefits in several tourist destinations and creative economy centers.
“If hotels in Java-Bali and outside Java-Bali are supported by Ministries/Institutions and the business world, I believe the game changer is vaccination. We also have to be disciplined in implementing health protocols even though we have been vaccinated,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
