INDONESIA’S Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said the tourism sector would soon recover from the COVID-19 pandemic by optimizing creativity and digitization. In addition, innovation, adaptation and collaboration, the tourism sector is believed to remain a major contributor to Indonesia’s economic growth during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Innovative steps that will be implemented in the tourism sector are the use of large-scale data to map tourism potential. The data will also strengthen the tourism subsector,” said Sandiaga Uno at the event “The 6th International Conference on Management in Emerging Markets (ICMEM) 2021” organized by the School Business and Management Bandung Institute of Technology (SBM ITB) virtually, Saturday (8/14).
He explained that the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy made Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) standards that must be met by entrepreneurs in the tourism sector. Those who have met the CHSE standard will be awarded a certificate by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.
“Finally, what is needed to restore the tourism sector is collaboration between all parties, including the government, academics, tourism entrepreneurs, and the media. The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy also applies the 3G principles in restoring the tourism sector; Fast Action (Gercep), Joint Movement (Geber), and working on all potential employment opportunities (Gaspol),” said Sandiaga.
Minister Sandiaga also considered that the ability to adapt was a way to survive during the COVID-19 pandemic. The community must also prepare themselves as well as possible in order to remain a champion in global competition.
“The pandemic has changed all aspects of life, including the tourism sector. To deal with this, the implementation of digital technology is important,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
