PEDULILINDUNGI TO BECOME REQUIREMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL

THE INDONESIA’S Government is creating an addendum to the international travel requirement by adding that travelers and transportation operators have to use the PeduliLindungi application.

According to spokesperson for the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Wiku Adisasmito said Circular Letter No.18 of 2021 on health protocols for international travelers dynamically changes in order to adjust to developments of the pandemic.

The spokesperson remarked that the use of the PeduliLindungi application was mandated to optimize the layered policy with a digital approach to handle COVID-19, including taking precautionary measures to thwart the entry of the new variant into Indonesia.

“The goal is to conduct monitoring, control, and evaluation in preventing COVID-19 infections. In detail, there are three clauses within the addendum dictating the use of PeduliLindungi,” he said.

Adisasmito explained that the first is that international travelers are obligated to use the PeduliLindungi application as the requirement for international travelers to Indonesia’s territory. In the second clause, every operator of transportation mode within the entry point of international travel is obligated to use the PeduliLindungi application.

“The third is that health quarantine monitoring of crew members of cargo ships and ships should comply with the specific and technical regulation dictated by the Ministry of Health through monitoring by the Port Health Office of each entry point for international travel,” he remarked.

Adisasmito added, the arrangement details will then be handled by the Ministry of Transportation. In addition to publishing a circular letter on international travel, the COVID-19 Handling Task Force rolled out Head of COVID-19 Handling Task Force Decision No. 12 of 2021 on Quarantine Place Entry Point and RT-PCR Obligation for Indonesian international travelers.

“During the pandemic, only six entry points for travelers coming from abroad to Indonesia are available through air, sea, and land,” Wiku Adisasmito concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
