According to the Head of the Culture and Tourism Office of East Java Province, Sinarto in a virtual press conference for the preparation of the 2021 Mount Bromo Jazz, Thursday (9/23) saying that on behalf of the Governor, I really appreciate and support the Mount Bromo Jazz at the level of Enforcement of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM). in East Java has dropped to levels 2 and 1.
Sinarto said that before the pandemic, more than one million tourists from all over Indonesia visited the Bromo-Tengger-Semeru tourist area. However, that number dropped dramatically during the pandemic.
Therefore, Sinarto hopes that the 2021 Mount Bromo Jazz event can help revive enthusiasm in the tourism sector and the creative economy such as hotels, restaurants, traders, car rentals, and other tourism industry players in the Probolinggo area.
“Hopefully what Jazz Gunung is doing can bring back the tourism, of course by implementing strict health protocols,” he said.
Meanwhile, the curator of Jazz Gunung Indonesia, Bintang Indrianto, said the event could also provide an opportunity for art workers including their supporting sectors such as technicians and sound engineers to return to work after being hit by the pandemic. What everyone needs in the midst of this difficult situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic is to support each other.
“Right now, what we need is mutual support, mutual trust, prayer for each other, and then continue to carry out good health protocols so that all elements in this ecosystem move back,” said Bintang.
The 2021 Mount Bromo Jazz will be held on September 25 and will serve as an example in organizing a music concert in the open with strict and disciplined health restrictions and protocols.
