NEW PRIVATE COVID-19 SCREENING FACILITY AT KLIA NOW OFFICIALLY OPENED

INTERNATIONAL passengers arriving at KL International Airport (KLIA) can now experience its new private COVD-19 screening facility that promises safe, convenient and efficient testing procedures.

According to Chairman of Malaysia Airports, Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said this new facility started operating recently and is able to provide COVID-19 RTK, Rapid Molecular PCR and RT-PCR results within 15 minutes, 1 hour and 3 hours respectively, resulting in shorter wait times for passengers. This testing facility is available at five locations in KLIA Main Terminal and three at klia2.

“These 8 locations will start operating in stages with the first starting in Gate G1, KLIA Main Terminal. All locations feature comfortable lounges for passengers to relax while waiting for their test results. The new facility aims to ensure that the highest standards of services are maintained with the implementation of new travel SOPs,” he said.

Dr Zambry Abd Kadir explaned that we hope to further restore the confidence of passengers flying via our airports by enhancing the level of comfort and convenience throughout their journey. We have engaged the services of BP Clinical Lab, a top-class medical healthcare provider to run this private COVD-19 screening facility which has been sanctioned by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and National Security Council.

“We will not compromise on the safety of our passengers. Enabling this new facility is part of our continuous efforts to host joyful connections whilst upholding all safety measures aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19. With the recently implemented Langkawi domestic travel bubble by the government last week, we look forward to the lifting of international travel restrictions in the near future. The private COVD-19 screening facility will certainly facilitate safe travel practices,” Kadir remarked.

The private COVD-19 screening facility will be able to accommodate about 40,000 passengers daily at both terminals. Passengers can look forward to being escorted from the arrival gate to the testing area as part of the services provided. At the facility, passengers can wait comfortably at lounges that are equipped with productivity tools such as, Wi-Fi Internet access, portable WiFi rental and telecommunication SIM card, while indulging in the food and beverages that are on sale. Passengers undergoing the private testing can opt to pay via credit card, cash, online transfer or e-payment through https://airport.doctor2u.my/ by BP Clinical Lab.

To ensure excellent services to passenger, he continued that BP Clinical Lab has set up a world class and robust laboratory at KLIA complete with sample processing, extraction and amplification (PCR) room. The lab which was officially approved by MOH last month can handle more than 45,000 tests per day.

“The services at the new facility are provided for a fee, which is similar to the current practice by MOH. The cost per passenger ranges between RM90 to RM370 for Malaysians and RM120 to RM470 for foreigners. The facility is open to all arriving passengers,” Dr Zambry Abd Kadir concluded.
