THE INDONESIAN Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) stated that the implementation of the Cleanliness, Healthy, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) certification protocol and digital tourism were the keys to developing tourism in the country during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Arsjad Rasjid in Jakarta, Wednesday (10/6), said the main key for tourism and creative economy players to survive in the midst of a pandemic is to have good adaptability, innovation, and collaboration.
Currently, he added, people’s behavior is starting to change, along with tourism trends that have shifted like vacations without much contact with other people to stay safe, namely staycations.
“This can stimulate the hospitality business. But that’s not enough, hotel providers must also be innovative, for example offering WFH packages, completing CHSE certification, preparing outdoor dining to maintain distance. That’s one example,” he said.
In addition, he explained, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry emphasizes digital tourism breakthroughs as an effective strategy in promoting various destinations and Indonesia’s tourism potential through various platforms.
This means, according to him, digital tourism is not only introducing but also spreading the beauty of tourism widely to increase the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia.
“This trend is an innovation and a big leap for the tourism sector and the creative economy in Indonesia during the pandemic. The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is very happy to help the government,” he remarked.
He affirmed that currently everything is done through the internet, starting to plan trips, pre-on-post journeys, almost all are done digitally. Building Instagramable tourist spots, according to him, is also one of the strategies to promote free tourist attractions in order to increase tourists.
“To achieve this, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry encourages the government to start making careful preparations, for example by setting up internet and wifi infrastructure, especially in 5 Super Priority Destinations (SPD) and tourist villages in Indonesia,” he noted.
Through more adequate signal coverage in all regions to remote areas, added Arsjad, it is hoped that the WFH program from tourist attractions, for example, will be realized.
On that occasion, Arsjad said that the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry supports increasing the resilience and competitiveness of creative economy businesses through the provision of incentives and access to capital, business standardization and CHSE certification and business reactivation.
