A TOTAL of 35 hotels in Bali were chosen to be quarantined for foreign tourists in line with the plan to open an international border on the Island of the Gods through Ngurah Rai International Airport.
Based on the data, the 35 hotels are located in the Nusa Dua, Kuta, Sanur, and Ubud areas. Overall, the thirty-five quarantine hotels have 8,074 rooms, of which 70 are used as isolation rooms, and 1,528 as quarantine rooms.
According to IGN Rai Suryawijaya, a member of the Bali Provincial Government Tourism Development Expert Group, said the number of quarantine hotels would continue to be added as needed. Currently, our party is conducting the second stage of selection in the selection of quarantine hotels.
“In the second phase of selection, 55 hotels will be participating in submitting their facilities as quarantine facilities. [Quarantine hotels] will continue to be added as needed, wait for phase two verification,” he said.
Previously, he continued that it was reported that many hotels in Bali were interested in becoming quarantine locations and centralized isolation places for foreign tourists if the opening of international borders was carried out.
Likewise, the Chairperson of the DPD Indonesian Hotel General Manager Association (IHGMA) Bali Yoga Iswara detailed that at least 50 hotels in Bali have volunteered to be quarantined locations, and around 5-10 hotels have proposed as centralized isolation places. Most of these hotels are located in Badung, Denpasar, and Gianyar, which are areas chosen as green zones for tourists.
“The hotel submission is part of each owner’s business strategy. Hotels that become quarantine locations or centralized isolation are considered more certain in obtaining income. The advantage is that this is a business risk issue, some think that quarantine hotels will get a more definite portion of cake, of course if it is a quarantine hotel it cannot accept other guests, so there is no mix of healthy guests with quarantine guests,” he remarked.
He also explained, as for the quarantine location is not needed much. On the other hand, post-quarantine hotels should be more prepared. This is related to the condition of tourists if they are released from the quarantine period and can vacation as usual.
