RAJA AMPAT TOURISM DESTINATION OPENS, BUT TOURIST VISITS STILL QUIET

RAJA AMPAT, West Papua tourism, has again received tourists since around August 20, 2021. Tourists who want to visit must comply with the health protocols that have been set.

According to the Head of the Raja Ampat Tourism Office, Yusdi Lamatenggo in Arborek Tourism Village, Raja Ampat Regency, West Papua, saying yes, it has been opened since our implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) level dropped to Level 2, but with strict health protocols starting from the vaccine, then the PCR test.

“Since it was reopened, domestic tourist visits to one of the marine tourism destinations in Indonesia have started to show. Even so, he admitted that the number of visits by domestic tourists still seemed to be much lower than the number of visits before the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.

He explained, there have been visits and increasing (since August), but not like in previous years because it has been opened, but tourists must test PCR and others. So, the visit is still not as expected.

“Besides that, another factor that makes Raja Ampat tourism still low on enthusiasts is the wave season which was happening at that time. The occurrence of the wave season makes the situation to be at sea not good. Although at this time domestic tourist visits are still quiet,” he noted.

Yusdi hopes that there will be an increase in the number of visits. Moreover, after the Arborek Tourism Village in Raja Ampat Regency received a visit from the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno recently.

“The pandemic is not only in Raja Ampat, but in the world, all regions are experiencing this. What is important now is that we motivate (tourism and creative economy actors) not to despair. Minister Sandiaga’s visit is expected to awaken creative economy actors in Raja Ampat, ” finished Yudi. [antaranews/photo special]
