COLLECTIVE HOLIDAY IS REMOVED TO PREVENT THE THIRD WAVE OF COVID-19

THE INDONESIA’S Government ensures that the policy of eliminating collective holiday or leave at the end of the year is taken to protect the public and avoid the third wave of COVID-19 which could potentially occur during the long Christmas and New Year holidays.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has not gone away. For this reason, the government has taken these steps and policies so that the potential for increasing mobility and activity ahead of the year-end momentum and Christmas 2021 remains in line with efforts to control the pandemic,” said Minister of Communications and Information Johnny G Plate in a press release recently.

Johnny said the government hopes that the public can understand the policy and urges people not to return home or travel for non-urgent purposes.

The government has cut collective leave on December 24, 2021, as stated in the Joint Decree (SKB) of the Three Ministers Number 712/2021, Number 1/2021, Number 3/2021 regarding National Holidays and Joint Leave of 2021.

The government also prohibits ASN from taking leave on the momentum of a national holiday through the Circular Letter (SE) of the Minister of PAN-RB Number 13/2021 concerning Restrictions on Traveling Activities Outside the Region and/or Leave for ASN During National Holidays in 2021.

“Policies are made to limit the movement of people who are more massive ahead of the year-end holidays. The government will also tighten travel conditions for people who have to travel during the holiday period,” he said.

For those who travel by mode of transportation at least must have received the first dose of vaccine. For air transportation, passengers must have a PCR Test negative letter requirement. Meanwhile, for land transportation, passengers must be negative for an antigen test.

Tightening and monitoring of health protocols is also carried out in a number of key locations, such as churches during Christmas celebrations, shopping areas, and local tourist destinations. The PeduliLindungi application should also be maximized in public places for monitoring and tracing the public.

“The government hopes that the wheels of the economy will not be disrupted, the supply of basic commodities will be maintained at the end of the year, and community activities can continue,” finished Johnny. [antaranews]
