INDONESIA presents Land of Diversity by highlighting three main sectors, namely trade, investment and tourism at Dubai Expo 2020.
Based on an official statement received in Jakarta, Friday, President Jokowi together with the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and a number of Ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet attended the National Day Indonesia event at the Dubai Expo 2020 exhibition on Thursday (11/4).
“Indonesia the Land of Majesty, a land rich in nature and culture. Indonesia the Land of Opportunity which will continue to open up new opportunities and opportunities. Indonesia the Land of Innovation which will continue to innovate for generations to come. Here we are, ‘Indonesia, the Land of Diversity,” said President Jokowi in his remarks.
The Indonesian National Day carries the theme of Indonesia’s achievements and progress as well as Indonesia’s profile in all fields, especially in the diverse economic, social and cultural sectors or diversity.
The National Day Indonesia event presents Indonesian arts and culture performances as well as video screenings on the big screen-Dome which was initiated and presented by the nation’s children. In the video, the Spice Up the World program has been launched as part of Indonesia’s culinary promotion and diplomacy to the world.
Besides being attended by thousands of visitors to the Dubai Expo 2020 and also the Indonesian Diaspora who live in the surrounding Dubai area, President Jokowi and Minister of Airlangga, Crown Prince Abu Dhabi, who is the Deputy Supreme Commander of the PEA Armed Forces, Y.M. Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and related cabinet ranks PEA/Dubai. The Cultural Show event began with the flag raising ceremony for the National Day Indonesia at Dubai Expo 2020.
Meanwhile, prior to the Cultural Show which was centered in the Al Wasl area at the Dubai Expo 2020 location, President Jokowi and Coordinating Minister Airlangga and their staff had a meeting with the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE/Ruler of Dubai Y.M. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rasid Al Maktoum and attended the Indonesia-UAE Investment Forum/Business Forum.
The President and his entourage also witnessed the exchange of a number of bilateral cooperation agreements, government to government and business to business, at the Jumeirah Al-Qasr al Hotel, a cooperation agreement between the Central Banks of the two countries, certification cooperation for seafarer personnel training, investment cooperation, cooperation in avoiding double taxation, cooperation health (mutual recognition of Vaccination and PCR certificates), export credit cooperation, renewable energy, port infrastructure development, aviation, oil and gas refinery, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals and cooperation between the Sovereign Wealth Fund of the two countries in the context of investment in several strategic sectors such as infrastructure.
During President Jokowi’s meeting with the Ruler of Dubai and his staff, both parties agreed to encourage efforts to accelerate the completion of the Indonesia-United Arab Emirates Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IUAE-CEPA) negotiations in order to increase trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
“President Jokowi again underlined that Indonesia’s economic transformation through policy reforms through the Job Creation Act will make it easier for PEA business players to invest in Indonesia and for this reason invite business actors to invest in Indonesia, including in the fields of renewable energy, infrastructure, tourism. and food security,” explained Coordinating Minister Airlangga.
Not only that, President Jokowi hopes that the presence of the Indonesian Pavilion at the Dubai Expo can facilitate the meeting of business actors from the two countries, followed by the visit of the PEA business delegation to Indonesia, along with the improving conditions for COVID-19 in the country.
Indonesia also wishes to learn more from Dubai in its efforts to develop and implement clean energy and encourage closer cooperation in the clean energy sector, especially in relation to the development plan for the new National Capital where the President invites the United Arab Emirates (PEA) to enhance cooperation in green and environmentally friendly energy.
