MINISTER of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno said the tourism sector can be a solution for the revival of the national economy if it can control the COVID-19 pandemic well, accelerate vaccination acceleration, and implement health protocols.
“The tourism sector is expected to be a driving force in national economic growth. Efforts to achieve this are getting closer to reality as the result of the (Indonesian) government’s success in controlling the pandemic and accelerating vaccination acceleration,” he said in a webinar held by the Vietnamese Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, virtually, Jakarta, Monday (11/8).
As is known, he said, his party has been trying to deal with a pandemic for almost years that hit the tourism industry hard, creating conditions of Volatility (turbulence), Uncertainty (uncertainty), Complexity (complexity), and ambiguity (ambiguity) or called VUCA.
This affects changes in the tourism ecosystem, such as changing aspects of tourism products, product preferences, and hygiene labels.
“The new tourism economy will prioritize cleanliness, minimal touch (low touch), minimal mobility (low mobility), and minimal crowd (less crowd),” Sandiaga stated.
He emphasized that innovation, adaptation, and collaboration were used as strategic steps to develop the tourism sector and the creative economy in response to VUCA conditions.
“With the spirit of optimism, I hope this webinar can generate new ideas to support competitive, superior, adaptive technology, more resilient, and more inclusive technology, especially in the tourism sector to create better quality jobs,” he concluded. [antaranews]
