AIRNAV Indonesia advises all aircraft bound for Denpasar, Lombok and Kupang (NTT) not to pass certain flight routes, due to Mount Semeru erupting on Saturday afternoon.
According to AirNav Indonesia Corporate Secretary Rosedi, Mount Semeru in Lumajang, Malang, said East Java erupted on Saturday (12/4) at 15.32 WIB. International Notam Office AirNav Indonesia has released a number of Ash Notams (Ashtam) related to the eruption of Mount Semeru.
“AirNav Indonesia Surabaya Branch with the approval of the Makassar Air Traffic Service Center [MATSC] and Jakarta Air Traffic Service Center [JATSC] as well as the Denpasar Branch for the time being advised not to visit W-33/South of SBR,” he said.
Rosedi added that AirNav had coordinated with Abdul Rachman Saleh Airport and Juanda Airport to conduct a Paper Test. Meanwhile, it is currently being prepared.
He said the results of the coordination of all planes going to the East (Denpasar, Lombok and Kupang) and vice versa were passed to North of SBR. The results of the pilot report on the Wings Air plane that passed to Denpasar that the volcanic ash of Mount Semeru could not be seen given the conditions covered by thick clouds as well as observations from Tower Abdul Rachman Saleh.
