THE RUSSIAN government has expanded the marketing of the armored luxury car, the Aurus, to export markets, namely Azerbaijan, Bahrain to the United Arab Emirates.
“For export shipments, we have supplied several units to the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Azerbaijan,” said Russian Minister of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, quoted by the Russian news agency, TASS, Sunday (1/2).
Denis Manturov ensures that the focus of Aurus’ exports will be countries in the Middle East. Aurus is the first Russian luxury car brand to be created from scratch by Russian auto company NAMI which holds Aurus’ 63.5% stake, followed by UAE’s Tawazun 36% and Sollers 0.5%.
The minimum price for the Aurus Senate is 18 million rubles (IDR3.4 billion) and is only available in the premium variant. Initially, the vehicle designed by the Russian Institute for Scientific Research and Automotive Machinery in Moscow in the “Cortege” project was prepared as a sturdy luxury vehicle for the Russian president.
The Aurus Senat was first used during the inauguration of Russian President Vladimir Putin in May 2018, before being displayed at the Moscow International Auto Saloon on August 29, 2018. The limousine version of the Aurus Senat marks the return of the era of domestically made cars, after the Russian president briefly used a Mercedes-Benz S600. [antaranews/photo special]
