THE MINISTRY of Transportation through the Directorate General of Sea Transportation is ready to support the Mandalika MotoGP event by preparing sea transportation facilities at the port, especially the Gili Mas Passenger Terminal at Lembar Harbor.
According to the Head of the Class III KSOP Office, R Pradigdo, said the Ministry of Transportation together with PT Pelindo had carried out several developments at the Gili Mas Passenger Terminal to improve services and facilities for tourism-standard ships, including cruise ships.
“The pier area is 440 m x 26 m with a waiting room capacity of 1,500 people, so this terminal is quite spacious and adequate,” said Pradigdo in a statement monitored in Jakarta, Monday (1/17).
Pradigdo said development was also carried out in several zones, namely the Container Zone with an area of 6.06 Ha, Logistics Zone 1.18 Ha, Office and Trade Business Zone 2.95 Ha, Tourism/Marina Zone 0.37 Ha, Utility Zone 0.83 Ha, 0.5 Ha Government Zone, Draft Channel & Pond-12 mLWS and 1900 Teus Container Capacity.
He said that currently at Lembar Harbor, several tourism-standard ships have started to dock. One of them is KM Kirana VII which transports passengers and vehicles with Surabaya-Lembar and vice versa.
According to the information he received from businessmen, bookings for the month of March have already started to take off to transport dozens of vehicles from Makassar and Surabaya to Lombok.
“We are ready to support tourism and the development of priority-scale tourism objects in Mandalika by preparing adequate port facilities and infrastructure,” he noted.
Based on information from PT Pelindo Lembar Branch, from February to December there will be several cruise ships that dock at Gili Mas Terminal.
Namely the Golden Horizon ship on 17 February 2022, the Norwegian Spirit ship 11 April 2022, the Royal Princess ship 5 September 2022, the Star Breeze ship coming twice on 27 October and 29 October 2022, the Viking Orion ship 23 November 2022, the Noordam ship 12 December 2022, The Viking Mars 12 December 2022, and the Vasco Dagamma 31 December 2022.
“We always ensure the safety and suitability of the dock for docking and will carry out checks before the ships dock,” he remarked.
He continued, so far there have been 3 (three) ships operating at Gili Mas Terminal, namely KM. MUTIARA TIMUR I with a passenger capacity of 360 people, KM. MUTIARA BARAT with a passenger capacity of 599 people and KM. MUTIARA SENTOSA III with a passenger capacity of 684 people.
“MotoGP echoes have been visible since a long time ago and the facilities have been prepared. We hope that when public interest, especially from Java, increases, we will be ready in terms of transportation,” he concluded. [antaranews]
