STRENGTHENING the Tourism and Creative Economy sectors, Indonesia and Singapore discussed the potential for cooperation in the tourism and creative economy sectors, starting from the follow-up to Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL), Fitness Tourism, to the creative economy sub-sector.
In this case, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, met the Second Minister of Trade and Industry of Singapore, Tan See Leng at the Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta, Tuesday (3/15) explaining that the follow-up to the implementation of VTL in Batam and Bintan applies to all ports. international ones in Batam and Bintan.
“That with antigen alone is enough, there is no need to use PCR. There are other rule changes, so that it can make it easier and make it easier for foreign tourists to come to Batam and Bintan, then increase the quota for the VTL itself,” Sandiaga Uno said.
So, continued Sandiaga Uno, it can revive the tourism sector and the creative economy in the Riau Islands. Moreover, Batam and Bintan become a haven for golfers from the Singapore, with international quality courses and the friendliness of the people being the main attraction.
“The golf courses in Batam and Bintan are magnets for tourists from Singapore. This potential will increase significantly. Especially if golf is combined with a trip to the destination,” he remarked.
He also stated that one of the low hanging fruit sectors that can be collaborated in the future is Cruise Special Interest Tourism. In addition to cooperation in the tourism sector, said Menparekraf, there are three sub-sectors that have a major contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Indonesia’s creative economy that can be collaborated with Singapore. The first is culinary, which is 41.5%. Both fashion 17.7%, and crafts at 15%.
Therefore, the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism is committed to creating a creative economy locomotive in order to create the widest possible employment opportunities. There are two sub-sectors that he calls pandemic winners, namely application and game developers as well as television and radio.
While all sub-sectors of the creative economy experienced negative growth throughout 2020, these two industrial sub-sectors continued to experience positive growth. Where the TV and radio industry sub-sector grew 10.48%, while the application and game developer sub-sector grew 4.47%.
“There are 17 sub-sectors of the creative economy, where application and game developers as well as television and radio have become pandemic winners,” he noted.
He also said, there is potential that can be collaborated in the field of fitness tourism or wellness tourism which always increases every year.
“Wellness tourism is a potential thing to be developed between Indonesia and Singapore. For this reason, this potential needs to be followed up, especially now that we are preparing infrastructure in 5 super priority destinations, one of which is in the health sector. We open opportunities to invest in medical tourism in 5 Super Priority Destinations (DSP). Because if you want to become a world-class tourist destination, you must have one of the world-class health facilities,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
