MOTOGP CONTRIBUTES POSITIVELY TO MANDALIKA AND SURROUNDINGS: OTA

THE MOTOGP event at the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit race arena, Central Lombok on March 18-20 2022, has a positive impact on tourism in Mandalika and its surroundings.

According to the Co-Founder & Chief Commercial Officer of the online travel agency (OTA) tiket.com, Dimas Surya Yaputra in an online press conference, Wednesday (3/23) said hotel rooms were fully booked two months before the event, many people left in the morning or afternoon and home at night, the impact is very good in the area around Mandalika.

“During the Mandalika MotoGP ticket sales period, tiket.com sold more than 27,000 MotoGP tickets. The performance of MotoGP ticket sales in particular contributed to 49% of the total entertainment vertical performance that houses the To Do ticket product on the tiket.com platform,” he said.

Mandalika MotoGP ticket sales, he continued directly have a positive impact on the growth of the accommodation business on tiket.com. Ahead of the MotoGP event, the number of accommodation bookings in the Lombok and Bali areas increased by more than 112 percent.

This figure contributed significantly to the revenue of the accommodation business on tiket.com which grew by 57 percent when compared to the same period in Q1 2021. Then, in terms of transportation, air ticket sales in Lombok and Bali also increased by more than 350 percent compared to the same period in 2021.

He thanked the government for providing relief to prospective travelers through the latest regulations, such as reducing quarantine days and removing the antigen requirement for travel for domestic tourists who have been fully vaccinated to booster vaccines.

“This year is a good year, good achievement. Demand has started to exist,” he said.

The tourism trend that is still popular in the midst of the pandemic is staycation, he added, where people can vacation without being far from home in various accommodation options with a private atmosphere with family or closest relatives.

“In terms of entertainment, people are starting to like various virtual entertainment offerings. Our online To Do ticket line is selling well, especially for various entertainment shows such as Sara’s Mystery Diary and JKT48 concerts.”

The high interest in these trends has a direct impact on business performance at tiket.com. Throughout 2021, tiket.com’s business will grow by around 40% compared to 2020.

Currently at the close of Q1 2022, with the easing of travel regulations, coupled with the Mandalika MotoGP show which is a strong magnet for local and foreign tourists, tiket.com has recorded business growth of more than 92% in Q1 2022 when compared to the Q1 2021 period for the whole business line.

Dimas added, we continue to prepare various promos so that people can enjoy holidays and travel easily and cheaply. Tiket.com launched the OTW (Online Tiket Week) promo program which runs from March 24 to April 1 2022.

“The OTW is a real step for tiket.com in encouraging the growth of the tourism industry in the midst of a pandemic. We are optimistic that with the return of the OTW this year, people’s interest in traveling will continue to increase, so the wheels of the tourism industry can continue to spin, so that workers and various supporting sectors in it grows,” he concluded.
