MASTER PLAN OF NATIONAL TOURISM DESTINATIONS HAS BEEN COMPLETELY DISCUSSED

MINISTRY of National Development Planning, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordination Agency, supported by the Coordinating Ministry Maritime Affairs and Investment as well as the Provincial Government of North Sulawesi and the Provincial Government of the Bangka-Belitung Islands held a Ministerial Coordination Meeting at the J.W. Marriot Hotel Kuningan, Jakarta, Tuesday (3/29).

The Ministerial Coordination Meeting was chaired directly by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut B. Pandjaitan, and also attended by the Minister of National Development Planning, Suharso Monoarfa, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/Head of BPN Sofyan Djalil, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Deputy Governor of the Bangka-Belitung Islands Province and representatives from the Ministry of PUPR, and representatives of the North Sulawesi Provincial Government who participated in the discussion process Master Plan for National Tourism Destinations Manado-Likupang and Bangka-Belitung.

According to Minister Luhut, said Manado-Likupang and Bangka-Belitung have the potential to become tourism gateways for northern Indonesia. These two destinations can be developed into sustainable destinations and high added value with the target of high spender tourists, both domestic and foreign.

“The high spender tourist target will have a higher impact on tourism income. In order to optimize this potential, there must be adequate accessibility, standard amenities, attractive attractions, and other tourism service facilities. Investment support is certainly important, to finance the development of these facilities,” Luhut told in his speech.

He added, as for a well-crafted master plan containing all aspects together with an integrated tourism development plan between destinations, infrastructure, environmental sustainability, regional spatial planning and investment potential.

Specifically related to investment, Luhut explained that the Master Plan must be able to map out the potentials that require investment so that it is easier to offer to investors. Therefore, he believes that the Master Plan that has been prepared has taken into account sustainable aspects such as a blue, green, and circular economy to support inclusiveness.

“Of course, this will be an added value for tourism and a good investment promotion point in line with the rapid growth of green-investing. In addition, the Master Plan must also act as a guide for all of us in planning the direction of tourism development, infrastructure development, utilization of forestry and maritime natural resources, as well as mapping human resource needs, from now until the next 25 years. The reason is, if implemented properly, the realization of this Master Plan will have a broad impact on the welfare of the community,” he remarked.

He explained again, starting from the absorption of labor, the increase in demand for SME/IKM/Artisan products to the potential to increase business in the field of tourism services. The magnitude of the benefits of the two documents designed, in fact, can be a reference for all parties to accelerate development in National Tourism Destinations. Therefore, this document must be a guideline for anyone who will develop a tourism destination, be it the government sector, the private sector, academia, to the whole community.

“I hope this document can be realized soon. All relevant central and regional apparatuses to work in earnest. Realize with passion and detail. The big concept has been developed by the consultant, it’s time for details and implementation to be our responsibility,” he noted.

Minister Luhut also asked all parties in the government to be able to first resolve all existing obstacles, especially land barriers that often interfere with development plans. Let’s make Manado-Likupang and Bangka-Belitung a tourist destination that is inclusive, competitive and able to provide economic, social and environmental benefits in a sustainable manner. Meanwhile, the Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas, Suharso Monoarfa, on the same occasion said that the preparation of the two Master Plan for National Tourism Destinations was in accordance with the thematic, holistic, integrative and spatial planning approach. So that the acceleration of the development of the Manado-Likupang and Bangka-Belitung can be carried out in a more structured manner involving cross-sector support, both public, private and community.

“The result is expected to be able to realize the Manado-Likupang and Bangka-Belitung National Tourism Destinations that are inclusive, competitive and able to provide economic, social and environmental benefits in a sustainable manner,” said Suharso.

In line with that, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, said that if the ITMP has been stipulated as a Presidential Regulation, it will be easy to plan, manage, and accelerate the implementation of the development of classy tourist destinations.

“Hopefully, after the ITMP is stipulated as a Presidential Regulation, we can accelerate the implementation of this master plan so that we can prepare Manado-Likupang and Bangka-Belitung as National Tourism Destinations that are sustainable and globally competitive (world class) supported by collaboration and commitment from all stakeholders related,” Sandiaga stated.

Sandiaga explained, through the commitment and collaboration that exists between the central government, local governments, and all relevant stakeholders, it will certainly be the main capital.
